What is CriticalGuard Insurance Plan?
UnitedHealthcare® offers four age based indemnity plans under family of CriticalGuard, which covers: Cancer, Heart/Stroke, Cancer + Heart+Storoke, and Critical Illness. Benefits are paid upon first diagnosis as a lump sum payment, and not based on actual expenses incurred. First diagnosis must be made a least 30 days after effective date of the policy.
Unlike a regular health insurance plan, which have benefits to cover medical treatment, insurance industry has evolved plans of indemnities specific to occurrence of certain event(s) for monetary compensation to reduce or offset high financial costs related to these four qualified critical medical situations.

Categories of Issue Ages for coverage
- Issue Ages 18-64
- Issue Ages 65-74
- Issue Ages 75-90
Following are the qualifying events at different benefits levels depends upon the plan you select:
Cancer
- Life-Threatening Cancer
- Cancer in Situ
- Benign Brain Tumor
- Skin Cancer
Heart/Stroke
- Heart Attack
- Stroke
- Heart Illness
Cancer + Heart/Stroke
- Life-Threatening Cancer
- Cancer in Situ
- Benign Brain Tumor
- Skin Cancer
Critical Illness
- Any event of above three categories, plus list below….
- Advanced Alzheimer’s Disease
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
- Coma (lasting for a period of at lease 7 consecutive days)
- End Stage Renal (kidney) failure
- Loss of Independent Living
- Major Organ Transplant
Limitations
- Exclusions and/or Limitations: Listed in brochures.
- Preexisting conditions: Defined in the brochures.
- Underwriting: All these plans are subject to health underwriting
Network of Providers
No network is applicable for these plan. However, you may look up PPO doctors here for reference.

Navigate and click on tab CriticalGuard, you’ll see plans in four categories written above. Select your choice.
Click on button Details to see the plan you’ve selected.
Click on button Add to Cart. Follow screens to click on button Apply and sign up.
