What is Critical Illness  Insurance Plan?

Critical Illness insurance, unlike a regular health insurance plan, which have benefits to cover medical treatment, insurance industry has evolved plans of indemnities specific to occurrence of certain event(s) for monetary compensation to reduce or offset high financial costs related to qualified critical illnesses.

UnitedHealthcare® offers four indemnity plans in range of $20,000, $30,000, $40,000 and $50,000 under family of Critical Illness Insurance. Benefits are paid upon first diagnosis as a lump sum payment, and not based on actual expenses incurred. First diagnosis must be made a least 30 days after effective date of the policy.

Following are the outlines of benefits at different benefits levels depends upon the plan you select:

  • Heart Attack or Stroke
  • Life-Threatening Cancer
  • Loss of Hearing, Speech, or Vision
  • Major Transplant
  • Paralysis
  • Coma
  • Renal (kidney) failure
  • Non-Invasive Cancer
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft

Last two items are eligible for 25% of benefits. All other items are eligible for 100% of the benefits.

Eligibility

  •  Age: between 18 – 59 for applicant and spouse at the time of application. Policy is guaranteed till age 70.
  • Exclusions and/or Limitations: Listed in brochures.
  • Preexisting conditions: Defined in the brochures.
  • Underwriting: All these plans are subject to health underwriting

No network is applicable for these plan. However, you may  look up PPO doctors here for reference.

Navigate and click on tab Critical Illness, you see four plans in increasing order to price and benefits. You may compare these three plans. Check the buttons Compare and then click on bottom Compare at the bottom of display. This is quick tabular display of compared plans.
