Supplemental Medical Insurance Plans related to Hospitalization
These Supplemental Medical Insurance plans from the The IHC Group are indemnities designed as financial protections to pay you fixed coverage benefits upon defined occurrences to reduce your out-of-pocket costs of deductible, coinsurance, and other expenses related to your hospitalization, surgery, health emergencies and help you pay for other incidentals. You can buy these plans standalone (a-la-carte) or preferably with your main medical health insurance plan (either Short Term Medical or a Major Medical plan). Benefits are paid upon proof of hospitalization. There are two types of plans characterized as follows:
Independence Hospital Insurance
There are three choices of the fixed lump sum payment per instance of inpatient or outpatient surgical service once a calendar year with other benefits as follows:
- Hospital 30: Has benefit of $3,000 lump sum for each inpatient hospitalization; $3,000 per calendar year for outpatient patience surgical services, and plus $100 per day for hospital stay up to 31 days per calendar year, with annual maximum of $10,000.
- Hospital 45: Has benefit of $4,500 lump sum for each inpatient hospitalization; $4,500 per calendar year for outpatient patience surgical services, plus $100 per day for hospital stay up to 31 days per calendar year, with annual maximum of $15,000.
- Hospital 60: Has benefit of $6,000 lump sum for each inpatient hospitalization; $6,000 per calendar year for outpatient patience surgical services, plus $100 per day for hospital stay up to 31 days per calendar year, with annual maximum of $15,000.
Independence Hospital Insurance Plus
There are three choices of the fixed lump sum payment per instance of inpatient or outpatient surgical service once a calendar year with other benefits as follows:
- Hospital Plus 20: Has lump sum benefit of $1,000 per instance of hospitalization, $2,000 per calendar year for outpatient patience surgical services, $2,000 per day of inpatient hospital stay up to 31 days, one visit to Urgent Care benefit of $250 per calendar year, benefit of three visit of $100 a visit, and a number of additional benefits, with no annual maximum.
- Hospital Plus 30: Has lump sum benefit of $1,500 per instance of hospitalization, $3,000 per calendar year for outpatient patience surgical services, $3,000 per day of inpatient hospital stay up to 31 days, one visit to Urgent Care benefit of $250 per calendar year, benefit of three visit of $100 a visit, and a number of additional benefits, with no annual maximum.
- Hospital Plus 40: Has lump sum benefit of $2,000 per instance of hospitalization, $4,000 per calendar year for outpatient patience surgical services, $4,000 per day of inpatient hospital stay up to 31 days, one visit to Urgent Care benefit of $250 per calendar year, benefit of three visit of $100 a visit, and a number of additional benefits, with no annual maximum.
- Additional Benefits : These are additional benefits to all three choices of plans above.
Effect of Hospital Insurance on Out-of-Pocket Expenses
The main insurance plan will have Maximum Out-of-Pocket amount to protect financial commitment in the event of inpatient hospitalization and treatment. This is first layer of financial protection. However, depending on the plan you have, it can be substantial, and for most people, it may mean indebtedness to bear with.
This effect of hospital insurance can best be illustrated here as an example showing effect of adding a supplemental medical plan of hospital insurance to the basic ACA or Short Term Medical plan that pays $1,000 per day of hospitalization.
Eligibility
Applicant must be between 18 years to 64.5 years of age, and permanent or legal resident of the United States. Eligible dependents includes you lawful spouse/domestic partner under age of 64.5, and children up to age 26 are eligible. It is a guarantee issue plan, meaning you cannot be turned down for coverage based on your health history.

These plans come with nationwide network of healthcare providers who offer you discounted medical costs and out-of-pocket expenses. It is significant to use providers in the networks to get discounted services and processing of your medical claims the Insurance. Reach out to following network of providers to search for providers.
